.:: Nelson 2006 ::.
This year was the 15th anniversary of the Nelson Kite Festival. It is the biggest kite festival in New Zealand and is held on an annual basis.
It is ideally situated along the coast usually has winds coming directly on shore. The sea breeze is nice and smooth and guarantees the kites to perform at their best.
In the first image you can see my hastily made wind shelter. I couldn't find our old one and all the shops had sold out so the evening before the festival I had to whip one up.
I found a piece of fabric in the scrap bin that was 44 meters long by 20 cm wide and turned it into a large kite shape. I don't think it turned out half as bad. It surely functioned ok.
lots of people commented on it and I might put the plans up here so others can have a go at making one, it is very simplistic design wise.
